Fairtrade-certified cotton – sustainability starts with the raw materials
Our responsibility begins with the sourcing of raw materials. We already use Fairtrade-certified cotton in the large proportion of our Gastro collection – numerous chef jackets, trousers and service clothing are certified with the Fairtrade product seal. The cotton is produced in an environmentally friendly way and under fair social conditions.
Why Fairtrade certified cotton makes the difference.
Lasting improvements for small-scale cotton farmers – that’s what the Fairtrade Cotton label stands for. Fairtrade gives farmers the security of always receiving a fixed minimum price for their cotton. This means they can cover the costs of sustainable production and are not helplessly exposed to price fluctuations. In addition to the minimum price, buyers pay a Fairtrade bonus that benefits local community projects. The label also stands for environmentally friendly production methods.
Fairtrade means:
- Stable minimum prices and an additional Fairtrade bonus
- Improved working conditions and democratic organisation
- Prohibition of exploitative child labour
- Environmentally friendly production methods
- Specifications for further processing
