We want to do more to support fair labour conditions
Forced labour, child labour, unpaid overtime, low wages ‒ the list of accusations against the clothing industry is long, and labour conditions in the textile and clothing industry continue to attract criticism.
Fair labour conditions are important to us, including in our production workshops worldwide. These are based on a humane, safe and healthy working environment, fair pay and social security for all workers.
GREIFF already monitors the labour conditions on site at the production workshops, with regular visits by technical staff and management.
Since 15 March 2015, GREIFF has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) and is therefore now the 16th company in Germany that has committed to implement the FWF’s Code of Labour Practices in its supply chain.
The FWF’s practices are the world’s most stringent standards, and the FWF works closely with non-governmental organisations, trade unions and business associations.
GREIFF monitor conditions in their supply chains, adapt their management practices to support better working conditions, and resolve problems when they are found.
By signing the FWF Code of Labour Practices, GREIFF has commited to implement this code in its supply chain.
The Fair Wear Foundation
The FWF has been in existence since 1999. It is an independent, non-profit organisation that aims to improve labour conditions in the textile and clothing industry.
